Quite possibly my favorite month of the year. Just maybe.

Here are a few little things that are making me smile;

1. Persimmons are in season!!

2. Also,  I replayed THIS 8 times, at least. It’s phenomenally great.  I think if I could get a guarantee from God that if I had a child they would do cool tricks like this, I’d be less adverse to that whole watermelon through a Pringles can thing.  Thanks for that one,  Ms. Jules.

3. This makes me looove human beings. I’m not even sure what that means, other than that in the face of so much darkness and hatred there sure is a hell of a lot of beauty out there too. amazingThis is artist Stephen Wiltshire.  The photo  is him in the process of completing  a sketch of the New York Skyline by memory from a 20 minute Helicopter ride, with PERFECT accuracy. Talk about the power of the human mind.  Seriously, read more about him here. (Via Cup of Joe)

4. You don’t have to know me long, to  know one of my small BUT VERY IMPORTANT dreams is to have a chicken coop one day. Maybe a few Goats for cheese and milk as well, but at the VERY LEAST, I’d like a coop.  I think about this ALL the time. Especially as of late because, crap. I’m falling in love with this city by the bay. And well,  city dwelling presents this slight problem with that dream of mine you see…  Anyways, to make matters worse I came across this today (Via Design Sponge).  Can you say VOGUE for Chickens?

coop

geez… my heart.

4. And lastly my sister passed this great photo blog along to me today. I could look at these for days. Makes me think about love, aging, seasons, and time- in the loveliest sort of way.

All for now. Happy November tidings to you all.

    I always wanted a couple of ducks strolling in n out of my kitchen… till my mother pointed out what a slimy mess they make.

    And i so miss persimmons from when we lived in Japan. You can get them here but fresh is different. At first the supermarket called them ‘persimmon, or sharon fruit’ – then they must have decided Brits are too bad at languages to cope with such a foreign-sounding word and nowadays they’re only called sharon fruit, which isn’t nearly so lovely and doesn’t suit them as well. (Even if plenty of wonderful Sharons are in the world.)

    Mand,

    I CANNOT believe that shawl..on that skinny little chick! Priceless. Though, I feel like putting a shawl on one of my chickens might make it hard to eat them later. :)

    And I completely agree, a sharon fruit falls into the category of “a rose by any other name”

    I am a chicken coop lover as well. Julie and I built one and raised chickens when she was in 5th-6th? grade. It was rickety but it worked and we got to eat fresh chicken eggs.

    When you and Julie are in Bako – want to help finish a new one? My sister has the nesting boxes, I have the frame all up (Large 6 X 10 dog kennel). I’ve been dreaming too and am half way there. :-)

    Within City Limits: As long as the neighbors don’t mind (we asked them) and won’t report you – we did chickens anyway (just don’t get a rooster :-)

    At one time we also had 2 mallard ducks (Chilly Willy and ?) and a domestic white duck (Trucker)

    We didn’t do so well with rabbits (ask Julie)
