oops..yeah that was a sugar cookie

Had ourselves a little bake night last night…

Me: “sniff…sniff…is that garlic bread?”  Oven: “belows smoke”

dang it…

And out comes one really really sad- gingerbread man.

Other lessons of the evening–

When trying to thicken up your icing, do NOT add flour. While flour is a great thickening agent **golf claps for Cait** One must not forget the laws of science:

flour+water=glue

…always…

and

lots of flour+ lots of water= lots of glue

…always…

even when you really really want it to equal sweet ooey-gooey-perfect icing. Even then,  it still equals glue.

This is Mrs. Groves red gingerbread man. We’re still not really sure why he is red?  But there he is- in all his bloody glory!

I think Annie and I (JD was an innocent bystander) were envisioning this night of winter-wonderland-cozy-cookie-making-Christmas-bliss!  Our little romantic, idealized bubble was quickly burst by two facts:

1. baking is hard work

&

2. We aren’t all that great at baking to begin with

So instead we spent the night on the kitchen floor, cracking ourselves up about how inappropriate we could make our little burnt cookie figurines look. err …sorry Santa

Oh, it’s begining to feel alot like Christmas, & I love it!!
